Alpha: Catechumenate, Part I
6:00 - 8:15 pm

St. Peter's will offer Alpha Fall 2008.

Alpha is an introduction to the Christian faith for people who are exploring Christianity, new to the Christian faith or want a “refresher course”. Each video presentation, by Nicky Gumbel of London’s Holy Trinity Anglican Church, focuses on a single topic in an informative and engaging way. Alpha evenings begin with fellowship at dinner in the parish hall which is followed by the video presentation. After the presentation, discussion takes place in small groups facilitated by trained leaders. Child care is provided. The Alpha schedule is normally as follows:

  • Session 1: Christianity: Boring, Untrue, Irrelevant? (Reception with Alpha Graduates)
  • Session 2: Who is Jesus?
  • Session 3: Why Did Jesus Die?
  • Session 4: How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?
  • Session 5: Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
  • Session 6: Why and How Do I Pray?
  • Session 7: How Does God Guide Us?
  • Session 8: Who is the Holy Spirit?
  • Session 9: What About the Church?
  • Session 10: How Can I Resist Evil?
  • Session 11: How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life? and Why and How Should I Tell Others?
