Animal Services Center at Tom Brown Park
The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (TLCASC) ensures public safety and the welfare of animals by enforcing animal control regulations and by providing a secure, healthy environment for animals in its care. We cleaned kennels starting at 10:30 am. www.talgov.com/dncs
America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend
At America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend warehouse St. Peter's lay ministers helped out with various tasks, from rescuing food and grocery products, to assembling brown bags of groceries for seniors. www.secondharvest.org

A Woman’s Pregnancy Center
One of the agencies Hands On Tallahassee will serve is A Woman’s Pregnancy Center. This non-profit organization provides confidential information to women (and men) facing an unplanned pregnancy. A.W.P.C. offers ongoing pregnancy support, information on adoption, STD counseling and more, all free of charge to the recipients. H.O.T. lay ministers cleaned gutters, washed windows, and laid 25 bales of pine straw. www.awpc.cc
Bethany Family Services
Bethany Family Services provides short-term housing and long-term hope for families in a housing crisis. At Bethany, homeless families with minor children receive services to help them move toward employment, permanent housing and economic self-sufficiency. We raked leaves and cleaned up the children's playground. www.echotally.org
Big Bend Cares
HIV/AIDS is very difficult to live with. Often people deal with a wide range of emotions and situations, from stigma, to fear, to anger, to despair. At Big Bend Cares, they link people who are living with HIV to needed services, as well as provide support to people affected by the disease. They also do all they can to stop the spread of this terrible disease. Our H.O.T. lay ministers sorted and bagged food items. www.bigbendcares.org
Big Bend Homeless Coalition/HOPE Community for Families
Approximately 3,000 to 4,000 individuals and families in our community lack a permanent place to live over the course of a year. What happens to these people who have no place to call home? HOPE Community offers transitional housing and supportive services for 164 homeless men, women and children in a setting that encourages responsibility and offers the opportunity for independence and self-sufficiency in a challenging and dignified manner. Our Hands On Tallahassee project organized a team from St. Peter's to prepare and serve a home cooked meal for 120 people at HOPE. Lay ministers prepared the food in advance , heated and served it at 5:30 that evening at HOPE Community. www.hopetohome.org

Big Bend Hospice
Hospice deals with the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual concerns of the patient and family. Since 1983, Big Bend Hospice has provided care for people living with a life-threatening illness. Patient's are encouraged to work, play and live as fully as possible for as long as possible. Hospice provides palliative (comfort) care for the patient and emotional support for their family. We helped create the Arts and Crafts Caring Tree. www.bigbendhospice.org
Bloodmobile - Southeastern Community Blood Center
The Southeastern Community Blood Center bloodmobile was at St. Peter's for our Hands On Tallahasse community project day. Seventeen people donated blood-- the gift of life! www.scbcinfo.org

Brehon House
The mission of Brehon House is to improve the lives of children and their families by providing services that produce healthy babies and prevent child abuse and neglect. Since 1992, Brehon House has welcomed over 300 homeless, pregnant women and children. Here they can complete their education, receive job training, and learn to care for themselves and their children. We painted the kitchen area, hung new valences, and straighted up the pantry. www.brehoninstitute.org

Chelsea's House
Is designed for ladies who are desiring to go through a faith-based transitional residential program that involves mentoring and accountability as they progress towards independent living. www.GSNCares.org

Covenant Hospice
Covenant Hospice is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate services to patients and their loved ones during times of life-limiting illnesses. Since dying is a part of the normal process of life, the focus of Covenant Hospice is to enable their patients to live as fully and comfortably as possible, to provide dignified palliative care, to assist patients' loved ones in coping with end-of-life issues and the eventual death of the patient, and to improve care for all patients at the end of their lives by example and education. Our Hands On Tallahassee lay ministers helped Covenant raise funds for hospice.
Dick Howser Center
Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services provides therapy’ training’ and educational instruction to children exhibiting developmental delay. We helped with their Chili Cookoff fundraiser.

ECHO
ECHO (Emergency Care Help Organization) has been serving Leon County, for more than 25 years. This faith based agency will directly assist more than 9,000 people each year. ECHO programs are designed to assist people in their efforts to become independent, productive, and stable. With opportunities and incentives, those who live under the burden of poverty will pull themselves from its grip and lead fuller and more productive lives. H.O.T. lay ministers organized food donations dusted,washed and cleaned the facility. www.echotally.org

Elder Care / Meals on Wheels
ECS is the leading provider of services that improve the quality of life for all seniors; the definitive source of accurate information on aging issues, services and programs affecting seniors; and an active advocate for seniors, working with others to fulfill unmet needs in the community. We pressure cleaned the walkways, installed a lattice, and replaced broken handrails. www.ecsbigbend.org

Grace Mission Grace Mission is a worshiping community located at the corner of Brevard and Bronough streets on the edge of Frenchtown. The congregation is a very diverse one. Approximately 50% are male, and 70% of are un- or underemployed. Many live in the homeless shelter. Unlike a mission church, which is expected to be self-supporting at some time in the future, an outreach mission is expected to be supported by other congregations and the diocese. Grace Mission H.O.T. lay ministers painted the kitchen, perpared food, and washed windows.

Harbor Chase and Heritage Health Care Assisted Living Facilities
Their mission is exclusively focused on creating a community that enhances the quality of life for senior citizens. The St. Peter's Choir entertained the residents and sang "old fashioned" style hymns. Musicians and anyone could sing can join in on the fun!

Lee's Place is a private, nonprofit, grief and loss counseling center specializing in children, families, and adults. It is the mission of Lee´s Place to provide counseling and educational services to those who are adjusting to a loss, whether the loss is a death, a divorce, or abandonment. www.leesplace.org
The Leon County Humane Society, 413 Timberlane Road, helps support programs and services that save the lives of animals because, unfortunately, every animal doesn't have a responsible and compassionate owner. To help those animals lacking the love and care of a good home, the Leon County Humane Society provides education about and advocacy for the companion animals in the Big Bend area. Their foster care program is the most unique and extensive program within the organization. LCHS rescues dogs, rabbits, and cats from the Animal Service Center and local animal rescue organizations, and places them in temporary foster homes.. www.lchs.info

Mission San Louis
Mission San Luis has volunteer opportunities to satisfy the history lover in everyone. Mission San Luis has gardens to tend and visitors to greet. Their volunteer opportunities include operations in the Visitor Center and the El Mercado History Shop, sewing, gardening, marketing, nature trail upkeep, education outreach, animal husbandry, and administrative chores. www.missionsanluis.org
Mobile Food Ministry - Serving Him 24/7
This organization's ministry is to prepare large, one tray dishes, then deliver the food to the serving site each Saturday and feed the poor and the homeless. 25- 30 St. Peter's people prepared a casserole, which served 10-15 people per dish. Some were created from some suggested recipes! (PDF - 12k) They were prepared in advance, frozen, then reheated for the serving at 11 am on the February 23rd, Hands On Tallahassee day of community service. Serving site was on 4th Street, next to the Fourth Avenue Supermarket. We served 300-400 meals including those meals which were delivered to individual homes. ( Cindy Ericks 850 532-8336 )
Parish Nurse Ministry
Parish Nurse Ministry assists congregations to explore ways to become involved in a health minlstry. Our volunteers offered basic blood pressure checks and offer advice on disease prevention and overall health wellness. www.parishnurses.org
Prison Ministry
The mission of the Prison Ministry is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen. We are putting on a recruitment breakfast in Madison to build up a team of prison ministers from the Madison area to minister at Madison Correctional. Pray that we may be successful in this work for Lord.

Wakulla Kairos #10: Bobby Carrouth, Steve Padgham, Chuck Lang
Refuge House Thrift Store-The mission of Refuge House is to provide direct services to battered women, their children, and sexual assault survivors, as well as to eliminate conditions in society that allow such violence to continue. During its 20+ year history, Refuge House has developed a comprehensive range of services for sexual violence survivors, battered women, and their children. www.refugehouse.org.
Ronald McDonald House of Tallahassee is a 9 bedroom house that provides room and board to families of children receiving treatment at a Tallahassee medical facility. The average stay for a family is one week, but stays can range from one night to several months. In addition to a private bedroom for each family, the house provides a kitchen fully stocked with food, a living room, a family room with a community television, and a children's playroom. The local community provides the majority of funds and services that it takes to operate the house. www.rmhctallahassee.org

Tallahassee Homeless Shelter
On our February 23 Hands On Tallahassee day of community service, we will serve a noon meal at the Tallahassee Homeless Shelter. Bethel Baptist Church members cooked the food and St. Peter's lay ministers served the hot meals to some very appreciative, and hungry, men and women. www.tfn.net/Homeless
Tallahassee Senior Center-Facilitating, promoting, and providing diverse wellness and aging programs, services and resources for citizens over 55 and their caregivers is the primary objective of the Tallahassee Senior Services.
Teddy Bears are H.O.T.
The First Grade Class at St. Peters collect edTeddy Bears which were then donated to Children in Crisis The bears were given to children who face the anxiety of a terminal illness. Teddy Bears were dropped off at the church's "Teddy Bear Cave" and then blessed at our February 23 Hands On Tallahassee send off worship service.
