Parents and Volunteers

Parents, you are vital in the spiritual formation of your child!   We are here to help guide you as you raise your children up as strong, faithful Christian witnesses in a world that desperately needs the love of Christ.  What you do now will provide a strong foundation on which your child can stand as he or she enters middle school, high school and, ultimately, adulthood.

Parents are encouraged to continue the lessons learned by your child in Sunday school.  On our Sunday School page, you can see what your child is studying week to week, and teachers will guide you in possible activities/conversations you can have with your child throughout the week.

Children learn through example; therefore, we highly encourage parental participation.  Whether you attend Adult Sunday School, assist in the child’s classroom or volunteer to help plan special events, you are showing your child the importance of active participation, lifelong learning and Christian fellowship.

St. Peter's shield - small Volunteer Opportunities

The heart of Children’s Ministry lies in our volunteers!  There are countless opportunities for you to get involved.   Please see the volunteer job descriptions below to see what would best match your specific time and talents.  Click HERE to let us know what your interests are and someone from our Children’s Ministry office will contact you.  This is an online form that will send your information directly to our office.

Sunday School

Substitute Teachers: Each class is assigned two teachers, but at times we will need a substitute.  Lesson and classroom will be prepared for you.  More often than not, you will be helping one of the regular teachers; however, you could probably also teach in a real pinch. This is a great way to get involved in Sunday School, learn more about what we do and perhaps even help with ways we can improve.

Sunday School setup and takedown: We always need volunteers to set tables, chairs, partitions and bring classroom materials to each room.  After each Sunday School session, we need to clear classrooms and restock classroom materials.

Wednesday Night Program

Leaders: We are beginning an exciting new program this Fall – Faithweavers.  By teaching a common Bible Point but in age-appropriate ways for each age group, we hope to provide a spiritually refreshing mid-week program for our children.  We will need adult volunteers for numerous aspects of this program.  This is a great way to get involved in the life of our children in a fun, entertaining way.

Grand Angels

We promise God during Baptisms to help raise the children up in the household of God.  Taking this covenant seriously, a group of seniors have volunteered to do their part to support Children’s Ministry through the Grand Angels program.  There will be numerous opportunities throughout the year for Grand Angels to participate so you can pick and choose what coincides with your availability.  We would love to have you join us!
