Optimized for Adobe Acrobat 9.0 or later. In the sixteenth chapter of Matthew’s Gospel when Peter confesses his faith in Jesus, Jesus responds by saying “You are Peter, and on this Rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” The Rock to which Jesus referred was not the man Peter (he was not himself the Rock), but the clear, unwavering faith he had in Jesus. Standing there in Caesarea-Philippi, one of the most Pagan cities in the empire, he is nonetheless clear and courageous in his faith. One of the primary purposes for the existence of St. Peter’s Anglican Church is to nurture that kind of faith! It is our every hope and prayer, that through the life of this parish, as you are engaged in worship, fellowship, education, and service, you are being shaped in a faith that is clear and unwavering; a faith that becomes a solid rock for those drowning in the seas of an ever-changing culture.
