1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us to “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” Stephen Ministers are committed Christians who receive 50 hours of initial, then continual training to encourage others during difficult times. Divorce, job challenges, and loss of a loved one are among the many issues that Stephen Ministers can provide confidential support.
What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is a free and confidential Christian caregiving service delivered by trained lay persons. Some examples of the types of personal crises for which Stephen Ministers provide care include:
- Divorce
- Loss of job
- Loneliness and depression
- Grief before and after death of a loved one
- Pregnancy
- Illness
