Having begun just two years ago, St. Peter’s Anglican Church is a brand new church full of life and energy, but seeking to be Biblically faithful in the old tradition of Anglicanism. Who are Anglicans? We are Christians who find our roots in the Church of England, but who are now spread all over the world with a world-wide membership of more than 77 million. Until recently, Anglicans in America had been a part of the Episcopal Church. In the last several years, many American Anglicans have left the Episcopal Church because of its adoption of beliefs and practices contrary to the Bible, but have maintained their ties with Anglicans overseas. Anglicans are Protestant in our commitment to the authority of Scripture and the importance of Bible study and preaching, but are also Catholic in our commitment to the sacraments, especially the centrality of the Holy Eucharist (or Holy Communion).

St. Peter’s, by God’s grace, has grown rapidly, with well over a thousand members. We have strong ministries for children and youth, college students and young adults, and dozens of Bible studies and service opportunities for adults. The strengths at St. Peter’s are:

  1. Biblically orthodox Bible study programs for all ages

  2. Varied worship opportunities (9:00 a.m.: A family service, traditional, but with praise music during communion; 11:15 a.m.: More “smells and bells,” a bit more formal and always with incense; and 5:00 pm, Veritas: An Anglican Service of Praise: A Sunday evening service which is thoroughly contemporary.)

  3. A vibrant and constantly growing commitment to mission (in Cuba, Uganda, and here in Tallahassee)

  4. A loving and joy-filled community

  5. An outstanding staff of gifted people who clearly love God.

My children, ages 19, 16, and 13, didn’t always like going to church, but they really do not want to miss all that goes on in the life of St. Peter’s. It’s a great church family and I’m thankful to be a part of it. If you’re checking us out on the web to see what we’re all about, we’d love to have you visit! We’re not pushy people, so feel free to come in the door!
